How to Perform a Skip Cast with a Baitcasting Reel by 1Rod1ReelFishing

Lures Used: Strike King Rage tail toad (green pumpkin/pearl)

Rod/Reel Used: Team Daiwa Steez 103 HA (10 lb suffix 832 braid) with a BPS bionic blade micro (6'6" medium power, fast action)

Recommended gear - 6'6" medium power rod (shorter length for greater control and medium power to allow plastic baits to load properly during the roll-cast)

Easiest baits to skip - tube, senko, super fluke, frog, and toad.

Difficult baits to skip - baits with a lot of weight concentrated on one end (i.e. texas rig with a bullet weight) and baits with a lot of appendages.

Tips - Use the skip cast to get under tree limbs, wooden docks, floating docks, and other hard-to-reach spots. Try this technique during the fall with a super fluke to mimic a fleeing or injured baitfish.

Ideal conditions - Sunny weather when the bass are more likely to be positioned in shaded areas.
